We are in the process of constructing our 2018-2019 Professional Development Plan. Members will discuss details at our next Board of Director’s meeting on May 4th. Plans are in the works to sponsor a bus to transport members attending the 2018 MCL National Summit at Penn State College in Pennsylvania on July 18-20. We will also sponsor our MCCL Summer Summit in Waterville on August 7-9… Check back for details in the near future.
MCCL has a host of summits, workshops and consortia trainings scheduled for 2017-2018. Look for the registration links next to each description below. More events will be added throughout the year so please check back periodically. MCCL Cohort members have a certain number of free seats at each of these trainings and will need to use their passwords to register for their free seats. Email Linda Laughlin for your password. Registration numbers must be large enough to justify running each of these sessions, so please register as early as possible so our decisions to cancel a session are not made from a lack of accurate data.
MCCL plans to start two leadership institutes this summer. We will meet for three face-to-face sessions to get our groups going. One of the goals of our face-to-face sessions is to become familiar with each other’s work, the challenges and successes, and to define what our follow-up support will look like during the 2017-2018 school year. These two groups will meet in 3 face-to-face sessions on August 7th and September 28 & 29.
Leadership Academy: (for building & district leaders): 3 days face-to-face this August, followed by online and regional sessions determined by participants. Cohort members have an unlimited number of free seats for this leadership experience.
Instructional Leadership Academy: (for teacher leaders & learning facilitators): 3 days face-to-face in August and/or September, followed by online and regional sessions determined by participants. Cohort members have an unlimited number of free seats for this leadership experience.
Summer Resource Development: Motivating Learning Opportunities & e-Libraries Development
For the last several summers MCCL has paid teachers to help develop and maintain resources to support MCCL teachers. This project includes having teachers collaborate to build learning experiences that incorporate the three components of our curriculum: content knowledge, complex reasoning, and habits of mind. It also includes building upon MCCL’s e-libraries and learning paths for complex reasoning, habits of mind, and instructional design.
We will meet with this group to initiate our project on August 14th and 15th. Participants will have the option of continuing this work into the school year, by working outside of regular school hours using online meeting formats.
