Special Topic & Role Specific Workshops

January 9, 2017:   The MCCL Transcript Webinar: 1 p.m.

For three years, MCCL school leaders and college admission representatives have been working together with Scott Bacon from Empower to develop a transcript report that honors our vision for proficiency-based, customized learning.
This webinar will introduce participants to how this report looks within the Empower system and what Empower Users must do at their sites to produce this report.
We have a separate workshop scheduled for Jan. 25th when we plan to present the details of our work, the importance of school profiles and problem solve scholarship challenges with high school principals and guidance counselors. We will not address specific Empower technology challenges on January 25th.
We anticipate that our January 9th Webinar will need a follow-up once everyone has had a chance to prepare their local Empower sites.
We encourage anyone responsible for the set up of Empower or the production of the transcript to join us on January 9th at 1 p.m.

Complex Reasoning

Cohort training is a 3-day learning opportunity that focuses on how to explicitly teach complex reasoning and how critical thinking helps us define proficiency. We have scheduled two sets of these sessions, one in the Hampden area and the other in the Lewiston area.

Complex Reasoning Cohort #1: September 26, October 24, November 16 at Hampden Academy (8:30 – 3:00)

Complex Reasoning Cohort #2: September 27, October 26, November 30 at Lewiston/Auburn College (8:30 – 3:00)

We have also scheduled a 1-day “Building a Culture for Critical Thinking” event. This learning opportunity will focus on how we build a culture that supports learners thinking at a deeper level of content knowledge. This will serve as a follow-up for those who have already participated in the 3-day CR training. It can also serve as an introduction for those who are not able to participate in the 3-day training yet.

Building a Culture for Critical Thinking (A One Day Learning Opportunity): TBD
